The second common ingredient is Nettle Root :
Nettle Root is a common 5-Alpha-Reductase blocker, which is the substance responsible for testosterone being converted to DHT. Women may use products containing Nettle Root, although it can have serious side effects for anyone taking blood pressure medication, medication for diabetes or sedatives like Ativan or Valium. Avoid Nettle Root if you take any of these medications.

The other common ingredient is Dong Quai. Dong Quai is still another, stronger DHT blocker than Saw Palmetto and is safe for use in both men and women. The combination of Dong Quai and Nettle Root tends to be quite effective in natural hair loss treatments

How to make Herbal Shampoo?

Normal hair is neither overly dry nor overly oily. Dry hair is often brittle with split ends. Oily hair looks greasy. A flaky, itchy scalp indicates a dandruff problem. Some herbal shampoos contain ingredients to address hair loss, while others accommodate black, curly, coarse, gray and/or blond hair.

After assessing your hair care needs, research appropriate herbs. For starters, normal hair benefits from horsetail, red clover, chamomile and marigold. Rosemary leaves, peppermint leaves and lemongrass treat oily hair. Choose rosemary to strengthen hair, sage to treat oily curls, indigo root to keep hair dark and comfrey leaves to heal stressed scalps with curly hair. Red clover, crushed orange flowers, chamomile flowers and marigold enliven dry locks. Gray hair tends to respond to nettle, which slows the graying process and keeps hair healthy with vitamin A and C. For hair loss, consider sage, nettle, basil and tea tree leaves. Crushed lavender flowers and rosemary may enhance hair growth. Treat dandruff with comfrey leaves, birch and/or white willow barks, peppermint and lemongrass.

Prepare herbs. Boil 7 oz. of distilled or spring water in a small pot. Crush your herbs, and add to the strainer. Position the strainer over an 8-oz. container with a lid. Pour boiling water over the herbs to release the natural properties and scents. Use the back of a spoon to squeeze the last of the herbal properties into your container. Add the wet herbs to the container, cover, and let the herbs steep for 10 to 30 minutes. The longer they steep, the stronger your shampoo.

Prepare your finished shampoo bottle. Pour 4 tbsp. of liquid Castile soap into an 8-oz. plastic bottle. Strain your herbal mixture into a clean bowl, and then add to the liquid Castile soap. Close the bottle, shake, and store for up to one year.

Herbal Teas :

Herbal teas - or infusions, as they're properly called if they don't contain any actual tea - are tasty, but often expensive. Depending on where you live you may be able to collect your own tea ingredients. Herbal teas also make great gifts!

These teas are meant for culinary consumption, not as a treatment for any medical condition. Nonetheless, pregnant women and those with serious chronic conditions should consult with their doctors before using herbal teas, whether store-bought or homemade.

How to Make Herbal Teas :
Collect the leaves and flowers from a clean area, preferably a forest, not nearby large roads. After a rain is a good time, but washing the leaves is still recommended. Pick young undamaged leaves/flowers, preferably before the plants have begun to flower.
Only ever use leaves from plants you can identify for certain. Be careful, as e.g. nettles often grow together with other plants that look almost identical.

Some of the best herbal infusions come from leaves of berries: blueberry, raspberry and strawberry. Blackcurrant is great too, though not so commonly found in the wild. Lingonberry leaves can also be used.
Fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium) leaves make for very tasty tea. Guava leaves may use to make herbal tea. We can use young guava leaves. Another common weed that makes good tea is the stinging nettle - just remember to wear gloves when picking the leaves.
Both leaves and flowers of the meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria) can be used. It may be one of the most delicious herbal teas. Meadowsweet does contain quite a bit of salicylic acid, so should not be used by those with salicylate sensitivty or a history of ulcers.

Preparation :
The leaves need not be dried - they can be infused as they are. However, with the milder herbs drying may be easier, as otherwise the mug has to be stuffed half full of the leaves, leaving little room for the water.
Whether dried or fresh, herbal teas need a longer steeping time than normal teas, usually 5-7 minutes. Most of them are not bitter, so sweetener may not be needed. Many homemade herbal make great as iced tea, as well.

Raspberry and blackcurrant teas taste great as they are, but generally mixing at least half a dozen different herbs result in the best teas. You can also add dried herbs to black, green or white tea - why not even rooibos, honeybush or yerbamate. Mint also goes well with wild herbs.
Herbs can be dried with a dehydrator or in room temperature, spread out in a single layer or hung from the ceiling. Make sure they are completely dry before storing to avoid mold. They should preferably stored in glass jars in the dark, but ziplock bags work too.
Some herbs like raspberry leaves do not dry well, unless they are cured first. They can, however, be frozen.

Why we should use herbal medicine?

Why we should use herbal medicine?
Because it is far safer than any chemical medication, has no side effects when correctly prescribed, assimilates easily into the human/animal body just as food does, is cost effective, extremely successful in healing most conditions and last but by no means least it is our birth right – no pharmaceutical company is allowed to patent herbs and this is why they go to such great lengths to isolate and synthesise the active ingredients, which they can patent and sell to the sick. After thousands of years herbs still grow and their healing properties are still available to us – it’s our choice.
